Botanic Name:Thymus vulgaris
Thyme is a common household spice with many medicinal uses.The active ingredient in Thyme is thymol, which comes from the oil of this herb and is used its antibacterial and antifungal properties.
Uses:Thyme is used to clear respiratory congestion, whooping cough, laryngitis, catarrh, and sore throat.It can be used as a skin wash to destroy fungal infections (such as Athlete’s foot and skin parasites).

Thyme is on the FDA’s "generally regarded as safe" list, but large doses may cause intestinal problems such as diarrhea and bloating.Thyme is safe to use as a seasoning during pregnancy, but strong medicinal doses should be avoided if there is any possibility that you are pregnant.
